This fortnight our school has been learning about Article 2 which reminds us that every child has the right to be treated equally. As a Silver Rights Respecting School we are committed to ensuring that every pupil feels valued included and celebrated for who they are. This right sits at the heart of our ethos and guides the way we welcome one another build relationships and create a culture where everyone belongs.

Upholding Article 2 means actively challenging unfairness promoting kindness and ensuring that all children experience the same opportunities to thrive. Pupils explored what equality looks like in everyday school life and discussed how their words and actions can help create a community where everyone feels respected. They shared thoughtful ideas about fairness inclusion and the importance of treating others with dignity.

Across the school pupils took part in activities that encouraged reflection empathy and teamwork. Classes created posters wrote pledges and held discussions about how they can champion equality in their classrooms and beyond. These conversations helped pupils understand that equality is not just a rule but a responsibility we all share.

We also celebrated the voices of our pupils who expressed what Article 2 means to them. Melanie in Year 3 shared a powerful message that captured the spirit of our learning:

“You have to be kind and understanding. Treating others fairly and equally is very important to us all” – Melanie, Year 3

By championing Article 2 we continue building a school community where every child feels included supported and proud of what makes them unique. Our pupils have shown maturity and compassion throughout this learning and we are incredibly proud of the way they embrace their role in creating a fair and welcoming environment for all.
