A Pupil Perspective

A Pupil Perspective

To celebrate European Day of Languages, we asked some of our pupils to share their thoughts about languages, culture and what makes our diverse school community so special.

“I like it when we use French to answer the register and order our lunches (le déjeuner).”
– Eyaad, Year 6

“Some of my family are from Greece and my name is Katerina.”
Meriká méli tis oikogéneiás mou eínai apó tin Elláda kai to ónomá mou eínai Katerína.
– Katerina, Year 5

“Zdravey is hello in Bulgarian.”
– Dariya, Reception

These wonderful contributions highlight the rich range of languages, cultures and experiences that make Park Academy such a vibrant and inclusive community. Every language spoken by our pupils and families helps to tell a unique story and strengthens our understanding of the world around us.

For our pupils, European Day of Languages was an opportunity to celebrate what makes each of us unique while recognising the many things we share. By learning words and phrases from different languages, we develop respect, curiosity and appreciation for other cultures, helping us become confident World Citizens.

As our pupil reporters, Amelia and Alex, reflected

“European Languages Day is all about respect, learning and, most importantly, being inclusive to everyone.”

We couldn't agree more. At Park Academy, we are proud to celebrate the diverse backgrounds of our school community and encourage every child to value and learn from one another.

Happy European Day of Languages!
